Lead Pastor:

Rev. Brian Larson

Phone:  614-451-1880

revlarson@atonementchurch.com

Pastor Brian has served with Atonement since January, 2008. Before coming to Columbus, he served a congregation in central Arizona, near Sedona, where their two children were born and baptized. They remain excited that Atonement will be a wonderful congregation for their kids to grow up in, grow closer to Jesus, grow in their knowledge of the Bible, and grow in their ability to express their faith to others.

Pastor Brian is convinced that Atonement was planted in northwest Columbus over 40 years ago so that God could reach people who live in the neighborhoods around us today. As he guides us forward, it is with the goal of meeting needs in Atonement's community so we can help people meet Jesus.

Pastor Brian has the privilege of leading a very talented and effective staff. Their job is to point our congregation to our neighbor's needs and help us share Jesus with those in need. Pastor Brian is passionate about worship, preaching, teaching, and care giving, and enjoys his work as a pastor, especially when he gets to share Jesus' forgiveness and the news of His resurrection.

Missions Pastor:

Rev. Derrick Hurst

Phone:  937-209-0321

pastor@thelivingtruth.org

Pastor Derrick received a call to serve as Atonement's Missions Pastor in November, 2009. He and Carrie, along with their twin boys and new baby girl, continue their efforts in Marysville, where they have spent five years connecting people to Jesus through Living Truth Ministries. Living Truth is now part of Atonement Lutheran Church as we combined efforts to support one another and become one church in two locations, also in November, '09.

Pastor Derrick is an evangelist at heart. God has blessed him with the ability to form friendships and introduce people to Jesus within those relationships. He is also a bold public witness, known to strike up conversations with strangers, always looking for a new relationship to start and always ready to share the hope Jesus gave him.

Our congregation, both in Marysville and in Columbus, is learning from Pastor Derrick who mentors us in taking relationships to a deeper level looking for opportunities to strke up spiritual conversations with people wherever we live, work and play. As God opens doors for us to connect our friends to Jesus we are learning how to walk forward boldly and winsomly. Pastor Derrick leads worship and preaches at Atonement's Columbus site about once a month, but serves as the site leader for our Marysville mission and can usually be found there on Sunday mornings.

Sherri was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio where she attended private Christian schools through high school and is a University of Toledo alumnae.  Sherri moved her family to Dublin in 1985 and became an active member of Atonement. She has been Atonement’s Administrative Assistant since 1995.

Sherri is married with 4 daughters, a granddaughter, and a grandson.  Her family is her passion and they occupy most of the time she spends away from work.

Sherri has this to say about her work at Atonement:   “I wake up every day and thank God that I get to work in such a great place!    The people I work with are kind, generous, talented, passionate, and FUN!  My favorite thing about my job is our child care center and preschool.  I get to see the children every day and watch them learn, play, and grow.  You just can’t have a bad day when children are playing nearby. “

Youth Ministries:

Will Smith

Phone:  614-451-1880

willsmith@atonementchurch.com

Will was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio before he ran off for college and other adventures.  Dreaming of being a Director of Christian Education, Will headed to Chicago and attended Concordia River Forest.

Following college he completed an internship at Emmanuel Lutheran in Cadillac, Michigan and against all good taste accepted a call in that state up north.   For three years Will resisted calls to become a Michigan fan, and in the summer of 2007 he returned home to the great state of Ohio and accepted a position as Atonement’s Director of Youth Ministry.

His primary responsibilities are working with the senior high, junior high and elementary youth.  In his spare time he enjoys bowling, golfing, and playing golf (though not very well, practice makes perfect).
